Getting Started with RhetoTab

Welcome to the RhetoTab Getting Started guide. This section will help you set up and begin using the RhetoTab system. Follow these instructions to ensure you meet all requirements and understand how to access the platform and its various user roles.


System Requirements

To ensure optimal performance and compatibility with RhetoTab, please make sure your system meets the following requirements:

Hardware

  • Processor: Modern multi-core processor (2 GHz or faster)
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM or more
  • Storage: 1 GB of available disk space

Software

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or later, macOS Mojave (10.14) or later, or a recent Linux distribution
  • Browser: Latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge
  • Other: Ensure JavaScript is enabled in your browser

Browser Compatibility

  • Google Chrome: Version 90 or later
  • Mozilla Firefox: Version 89 or later
  • Apple Safari: Version 14 or later
  • Microsoft Edge: Version 90 or later

How to Access RhetoTab

To start using RhetoTab, follow these steps:

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to the RhetoTab URL: https://rhetotab.hollytechsolnz.com.

  2. Sign Up: If you don't have an account yet, you can create one by visiting the https://rhetotab.hollytechsolnz.com/register. Fill out the registration form with your details and submit it to create your account.

  3. Log in using your credentials:

    • Username: Your registered email address or username
    • Password: Your password (if you have forgotten your password, use the [Forgot Password](https://rhetotab.hollytechsolnz.com/forgot-password) link to reset it)
  4. Dashboard Access: After logging in, you will be directed to your dashboard where you can access different features based on your role.


User Roles and Permissions

RhetoTab supports several user roles, each with specific permissions and access levels. Understanding these roles will help you navigate the system effectively:

  • Judges:

    • Can access the scoring interface and view participant details.
    • Enter scores and review judgments.
    • May have limited access to certain administrative features based on their assigned roles.
  • Patrons:

    • View-only access to certain tournament details and results.
    • Can follow the progress of tournaments and view public information.
  • Debaters:

    • Access to their personal profiles, schedules, and results.
    • Can view matchups, scores, and feedback provided by judges.
  • Tabmasters:

    • Manage the assignment of judges and debaters to rounds and rooms.
    • Oversee the organization of the tournament and handle any logistical issues.
